After the operation of trains after the Covid-19 epidemic, IRCTC had changed the rules for booking tickets through the app and website. Under the new rule, users were required to verify their account before booking tickets. But about 40 lakh users have not yet verified their account. Users who do not verify the account will not be able to book tickets online in future.

Verification of mobile and e-mail

– Click on the verification window by going to the IRCTC app or website.
Now enter your registered mobile number and e-mail ID.
After entering both the information, click on the Verify button.
– On clicking here OTP will come on your mobile, verify the mobile number by entering it.
After entering the code received on the e-mail ID, your mail ID will also be verified.
After completing this process, you can do online ticket booking for the train.


New railway rule
Railways have made new rules for passengers who have not booked tickets for a long time due to corona infection. Such people will have to first verify their mobile number and email to buy tickets from the IRCTC portal. Only after that you will get the ticket. However, passengers who have booked regular tickets will not have to go through this process.


Online ticket booking service
IRCTC sells tickets online (e-Ticket) under the Indian Railways. Passengers create login and password on this portal for tickets. And then take advantage of online booking. To create a login password, you have to provide email and phone number. That is, you can book tickets only after verifying email and phone number.

Know why the rules were made
Trains have started running on the track as soon as the corona havoc subsides. In such a situation, ticket sales have also increased. At present, about eight lakh train tickets are being booked in 24 hours. Senior officials of IRCTC’s Delhi headquarters said that the process of mobile number and email verification has been started to ensure that the first and second wave of corona infection and the accounts which were inactive on the portal before that.

How is the verification done?
When you login to the IRCTC portal, the verification window opens. Enter the already registered email and mobile number on it. Now there is an option of editing on the left and verification on the right. You can change apna number or email by selecting edit option. On selecting the option of verification, an OTP (One Time Password) will be received on your number. Your mobile number gets verified after entering the OTP. Similarly, verification will have to be done for email as well. It is verified through the OTP received on the email.

Change in Name of Passenger Holding Confirmed Reservation
Save as otherwise, a berth or a seat reserved in the name of a person shall be used only by the person and shall not be transferable to any other person.
Chief Reservation Supervisor of important stations are authorized by Railway Administration to permit the change of name of a passenger having a seat or berth reserved in his name in the following circumstances namely:-
Where the passenger is a Government Servant, proceeding on duty and appropriate authority, makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of trains
Where the passenger makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in his name may be transferred to another member of his family, meaning, Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Husband and Wife.
Where the passengers are students of a recognized educational institution and the Head of the institution makes a request in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, that the reservation made in the name of any student be transferred to any other student of the same institute.
Where the passengers are members of a marriage party and any person deemed to be Head of such party makes a request in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of any member of the marriage party be transferred to any other person.
Where the passengers are a group of cadets of the National Cadet Corps and any officer who is the head of the group, makes a request in writing at least 24 hours before the departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of any cadet be transferred to any other cadet.
Such a request will be granted only once. Regarding item no. (c), (d) and (e), such request for a change in excess of 10% of the total strength of the group shall not be granted.

Boarding Point Change Procedure
Select the Transaction Type option as ‘Boarding Point Change’.
Enter PNR Number and Train number along with Captcha.
Select check box to confirm that rules and procedure are read.
After click on submit an OTP will be sent on mobile number given at the time of booking, enter the received OTP and click submit.
After the OTP is validated, PNR details will be displayed on the screen.
After verifying the details on the screen, select the New Boarding Station from Boarding Point list and then click Submit.

Time frame to submit the application form
According to the Indian Railways, the request should be raised at least 24 hours prior to the departure time, but it can vary depending on the passenger who is raising the request.

In case of a government employee, the request should be raised 24 hours before the departure of the train. If there is a festivity, wedding occasion, or any personal issue then the person needs to raise the ticket 48 hours prior to the departure. The NCC candidates can also enjoy the benefits of the ticket transfer service. Passengers who will replace their counterpart is required to carry their identification documents for travelling.
